Mena Alexandera Suvari, born in 1979 is an American model, actress and fashion designer. Her birth date was 13 February 1979. Following a brief time as a model in the fashion industry before moving into acting by appearing as a guest on TV shows such as Boy Meets World in the 1990s and High Incident. She made her film debut in the 1997 dramatic film Nowhere. After her performances of American Beauty (for which she won a BAFTA Award) and American Pie that attracted greater attention, she began her move into more prominent role. After that, she was as a co-star in Loser (2000) with the American Pie co-star Jason Biggs and later played the main character in the comedy Sugar & Spice (2001). The film also featured her in the 2002 independent drama Spun as well as the 2004 action film Trauma. She also was a guest in HBO's series Six Feet Under. She was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award 2005 as part of the Outstanding Ensemble. She was also cast in the film version of Day of Dead and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and in the film versions of The Garden of Eden. Suvari is a model for Lancome Paris Adaptive, and she has also appeared in a variety of blogs and magazines such as Vogue. She has long been an advocate and supporter to the African Medical and Research Foundation. She also is active on women's empowerment issues and works with organizations that support breast cancer awareness and an End Violence Against Women Campaign.
